Scar Removal Product
The appearance of scars can pose several self confidence issues to those who possess them. Not only do scars leave behind a physical reminder of a past injury, but they can also trigger unwanted memories of a painful experience. Fortunately, options do exist for the removal of scars.
A scar is a mark on the skin that comes from the healing of tissue after an injury or damage to an area of the skin. The forming of a scar is a necessary part of the skin’s healing process, and as the tissue heals, it can leave behind a raised area of the skin, a dark red area, a caved in area, or a pale area on the skin. Scars can be caused by several factors such as acne, surgery, burns, accidents, injuries, and pregnancy (stretch marks). A scar removal product can be used to alleviate the appearance of these unsightly scars.
Currently, the most popular scar removal product on the market is a topical cream known as Mederma. Mederma was created to considerably diminish the appearance of scars, both old and new, using onion extract as the active ingredient. It is recommended to apply a thin coat of Mederma to the scar three times daily for eight consecutive weeks to new scars, and three times a day for six consecutive months on existing scars. Continuous use of Mederma will make the scar softer and smoother, and will reduce its appearance considerably.
Another option available for the removal of scars is the product ScarAway Silicone Scar Treatment Sheets. The self-adhesive sheets offer the same technology used by plastic surgeons, incorporating the use of silicone gel for the rapid healing of scars. Doctors recommend using this product for twelve weeks to reduce the appearance of scars.
One final option is laser scar removal treatments. Laser scar removal is considered surgery, and requires the use of anesthesia as the laser is moved over the scar tissue. The laser actually removes layers of skin to reveal new, undamaged skin. Unfortunately, there are risks and side effects associated with this procedure, such as hyper-pigmentation, infections, and allergic reactions.
Scars are an unpleasant reminder of skin damage and injury, but scars do not have to be permanent. With the use of topical creams such as Mederma, self adhesive sheets like ScarAway, and laser scar removal, unsightly scars no longer have to play a negative role in your appearance.
